The GEO Matrix is Qwairy’s signature diagnostic tool. It gives you a topic × provider heatmap — so you can instantly spot where your brand is strong, where it’s weak, and which combinations need attention.
Navigate to Cockpit > GEO Matrix in the left navigation menu.
How the Matrix Works
Each row represents a grouping (topic, tag, funnel stage, or individual prompt), and each column represents an AI provider (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot, etc.).
Each cell displays your brand’s ranking among your competitors for that combination. The ranking is shown as #rank/total (e.g., #2/8 means you rank 2nd out of 8 competitors tracked). Below the ranking, the cell also shows the average value of the selected metric across that provider column.
Ranking Colors
Cell colors are based on your ranking position relative to competitors:
| Color | Position | Meaning |
|---|
| Green | #1 | You lead the competition |
| Blue | Top third | Strong competitive position |
| Yellow | Middle third | Average — room to improve |
| Orange | Bottom third | Weak — needs attention |
A Coverage column on the right shows the percentage of providers where your brand is mentioned or cited at least once.
Metric Selector
Use the metric dropdown above the matrix to choose which metric the rankings and averages are based on:
| Metric | What it measures |
|---|
| Score | Overall visibility score (0–100), combining all sub-metrics |
| Mention Rate | Percentage of AI responses that mention your brand |
| Share of Voice | Your brand’s mentions as a proportion of all competitor mentions |
| Citation Rate | Percentage of AI responses that cite your domain as a source |
| Sentiment | Average sentiment of how your brand is described |
Switching the metric updates the entire matrix — rankings, colors, and averages all reflect the selected metric.
Use Share of Voice to understand your competitive position, and Citation Rate to see where AI providers reference your content as a source.
Granularity Modes
Use the tabs above the matrix to switch between four views:
| Mode | Rows show | Best for |
|---|
| Topics | Your brand topics | High-level strategic view |
| Tags | Custom tags | Segment-level analysis (campaigns, audiences) |
| Funnel | TOFU / MOFU / BOFU | Sales funnel visibility gaps |
| Prompts | Individual prompts | Drill-down into specific questions |
If you have exactly one topic or tag selected in the global filters, the corresponding tab is hidden automatically — there’s no need for a single-row breakdown.
Sorting
Click any column header to sort the matrix:
- Name — alphabetical
- Coverage — by coverage percentage
- Provider column — by ranking on that specific provider
Click again to toggle ascending/descending.
Cell Detail Panel
Click any cell to open a detail panel on the right. It shows:
Sub-Metric Rankings
Each sub-metric displays your brand’s ranking among competitors (#rank/total), color-coded by ranking position (same color scheme as the matrix cells). This lets you quickly identify which specific dimensions are dragging your overall position down.
| Sub-metric | What it measures |
|---|
| Mention Rate | Percentage of responses where your brand is mentioned |
| Share of Voice | Your mentions vs. all competitor mentions |
| Citation Rate | Percentage of responses citing your domain as a source |
| Sentiment | Tone of how your brand is described |
Top 5 Competitors
The competitors most frequently mentioned for this topic × provider combination, with their mention count and average position. Only your direct competitors are shown.
Top 5 Sources
The domains most frequently cited as sources by the AI provider for this topic. This list is filtered to show only sources owned by your brand or your direct competitors — giving you a focused view of the competitive source landscape.
Sparkline Trend
A mini bar chart showing the score evolution over the last 8 weeks — so you can see if a cell is improving, declining, or stable.
Filters
The GEO Matrix respects global filters:
| Filter | Effect |
|---|
| Providers | Show/hide provider columns |
| Topics | Filter which rows appear (Topics mode) |
| Tags | Filter which rows appear (Tags mode) |
| Period | Change the time range for scores |
Export
Click the Export PNG button (top-right) to download the matrix as an image — useful for reports and presentations.
You can also create a Shared Link of type “GEO Matrix” from the share menu to give external stakeholders a read-only snapshot.
