The Compare tab lets you run head-to-head comparisons between your brand and up to 10 competitors. It combines tables, scatter plots, heatmaps, and trend charts to answer one question: where exactly are you winning and losing?
Navigate to Overview > Compare (third tab on the Overview page).
Getting Started
Select competitors using the multi-select dropdown at the top. Your brand is always included. Qwairy auto-populates your favorited competitors on first load.
You need at least 2 brands selected (your brand + 1 competitor) for the comparison views to appear.
Compare Views
The Compare tab contains 5 complementary views:
1. Metrics Table
A side-by-side table comparing all selected brands on 11 metrics:
| Metric | Description |
|---|
| Mention Rate | % of AI responses mentioning the brand |
| Citation Rate | % of responses citing the brand as a source |
| Share of Voice | Brand mentions ÷ total competitor mentions |
| Total Mentions | Absolute mention count |
| Coverage | % of prompts where the brand appears |
| Avg Position | Average ranking in AI response lists (lower = better) |
| Avg Sentiment | Tone of mentions (0–100) |
| Avg Relevance | Contextual match (0–100) |
| Source Citations | Total source citation count |
| Source Pages | Number of distinct pages cited |
| Providers | Number of AI providers mentioning the brand |
The best value per metric is highlighted in green, the worst in red. Trend arrows show the change vs. the previous period.
2. Positioning Map
A scatter plot that maps competitors on any two metrics you choose (via dropdowns for X and Y axes).
- Each competitor is plotted as a logo dot
- Dot colors indicate relationship: green (your brand), orange (direct competitor), blue (indirect), gray (other)
- Quadrants help you read the map: top-right = leaders, bottom-left = low profile
- Hover for detailed tooltips, click to toggle visibility
Common axis combinations:
- Mention Rate × Sentiment — who’s visible AND well-perceived?
- Share of Voice × Citation Rate — who’s dominant AND authoritative?
- Coverage × Avg Position — who’s everywhere AND ranked high?
3. Overlap Matrix
A heatmap showing the overlap percentage between every pair of competitors — i.e., how often they both appear in the same AI responses.
| Overlap % | Meaning |
|---|
| 75–100% | High co-occurrence — direct rivals in AI responses |
| 50–74% | Moderate overlap |
| 15–49% | Low overlap — different niches |
| 0–14% | Minimal — rarely mentioned together |
This reveals which competitors AI models consider your closest substitutes.
4. Evolution Chart
A multi-line time-series chart tracking any selected metric over time for all competitors. Use the metric dropdown to switch between:
- Mentions
- Share of Voice (%)
- Coverage (%)
- Position (reversed Y-axis — lower position = higher on chart)
- Sentiment
- Relevance
Toggle individual competitors on/off using the eye icons. Weekly data points.
5. Breakdown Tables
Multi-tab breakdown showing competitor metrics sliced by:
| Tab | Rows show | Use case |
|---|
| By Provider | Performance per AI provider | Find provider-specific gaps |
| By Topic | Performance per topic | Identify topic ownership |
| By Tag | Performance per tag | Segment-level benchmarking |
| By Funnel | TOFU / MOFU / BOFU performance | Funnel-stage competitive gaps |
Each table uses heatmap coloring to highlight the leader per row. Click any row to drill into the detail page.
Breakdown tabs are hidden when a single filter is active for that dimension (e.g., the “By Topic” tab hides if you have exactly 1 topic selected).
Filters
The Compare tab respects global filters:
| Filter | Effect |
|---|
| Providers | Scope comparison to selected AI models |
| Topics | Scope to selected topics |
| Tags | Scope to selected tags |
| Period | Change the time range |
