# Matomo

> Connect Matomo to track AI assistant referrer traffic and ecommerce revenue with an open-source analytics stack.

Matomo connects Qwairy to your Matomo instance so Referrer Analytics can track human traffic from ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and other AI platforms. When ecommerce tracking is enabled, Matomo can also power AI Revenue.

## How to Connect Matomo

1. Go to **Measure → Referrer Analytics** and choose **Matomo**.
2. Enter your **Matomo instance URL** and **auth token**.
3. Select the Matomo **site** to monitor.
4. Qwairy verifies access and stores the auth token encrypted.

  Matomo 5.5+ includes a native AI assistants referrer bucket. Qwairy uses it when available and falls back to AI referrer domain matching for older instances or pre-upgrade history.

## AI Revenue Requirements

AI Revenue requires Matomo ecommerce tracking. If ecommerce data is not detected, Referrer Analytics still works and the AI Revenue page shows a setup state.
