# Bing Webmaster Tools

> Connect your Bing Webmaster Tools account to track how Bing powers Microsoft Copilot's AI answers and optimize your visibility.

Bing is the search engine behind **Microsoft Copilot**: your Bing rankings directly influence whether Copilot cites you. By connecting Bing Webmaster Tools, you can track which queries drive traffic, monitor click-through rates, and optimize your presence in both traditional search and AI-generated answers.

## How to Connect Bing Webmaster Tools

1. **Go to Measure → Bing Webmaster Tools** in the left navigation menu.
2. Click the **"Connect"** button.
3. Enter your **Bing Webmaster Tools API key** and select the site you want to track.
4. Once connected, Qwairy imports your search query and page data automatically.

<Info>
  You can find your Bing API key in the [Bing Webmaster Tools dashboard](https://www.bing.com/webmasters) under **Settings → API access**.
</Info>

## What Can You See?

Once connected, Qwairy displays two main views:

### Queries Tab

See all search queries that drive traffic to your site through Bing:

* **Clicks** — How many users clicked through to your site
* **Impressions** — How many times your site appeared in results
* **CTR** — Click-through rate percentage
* **Avg. Position** — Your average ranking position
* **Query length** — Short-tail, Middle-tail, Long-tail classification
* **Search intent** — Transactional, Question, Comparison, Local, Other

Each query shows **trend indicators** comparing to the previous period so you can spot improvements or regressions at a glance.

### Pages Tab

See which of your pages perform best in Bing search:

* **URL** — The page being ranked
* **Clicks**, **Impressions**, **CTR**, **Avg. Position** — Same metrics as queries, but per page
* **Trend indicators** — Period-over-period changes

## Filtering & Sorting

* **Search** — Filter queries or pages by keyword
* **Period** — Select from preset time ranges (last 7 days, 30 days, 90 days)
* **Query length** — Filter by Short-tail, Middle-tail, or Long-tail
* **Search intent** — Filter by intent type
* **Sort** — Click any column header to sort ascending or descending

## Why Bing Matters for AI Visibility

Bing's index serves as the retrieval layer for:

* **Microsoft Copilot** — Uses Bing search results directly
* **ChatGPT web search** — Powered by Bing's index

Optimizing your Bing presence doesn't just improve traditional search performance — it directly increases your chances of being cited in AI-generated answers from these platforms.

## Export

Click the **Export** button to download your Bing data as CSV for external analysis or reporting.

## Also available via MCP

This data is also queryable through the Qwairy MCP server — the [`get_bing_metrics`](/mcp/tools/measure) tool returns the same figures for use in Claude, Cursor, or any MCP-compatible assistant. Requires the `read:measure` scope.
